General information
Zell am See is a unique spot in the Austrian Alps. Lively and welcoming, the lakeside town contrasts with most of the smaller skiing alpine villages for its "civilized" comfort and plenty of entertaining opportunities. The town is situated at a splendid lakeside, extremely adorable in summer, but gaining special charm when immersed in the snow. After the construction of the tunnel was finished, the heavy traffic has been now re-directed and Zell am See is calmer and peaceful.

Winter activities
Due to the low altitude and especially to the lakeside position, Zell does not have a very long snow season. Still, it offers perfect conditions for initiating skiers - varied and gentle slopes for beginners to learn and great skiing school to train them. As to better intermediates and advanced, they will not find much challenges in Zell am See. The resort is situated just few moments away from Kaprun and the Glacier where a lot of black runs and off-piste are at the disposal of skiing freaks to enjoy - including the hair-raising Kamikaze racing run. Same for boarders, with beginner opportunities in Zell and plenty of advanced areas nearby for experts. In fact, being part of the Europe Sport Region, Zell am See gives direct access to 130 km of varied skiing area including some of the best runs in Austria. Being situated on the lakeside, Zell has the unique charm of adorable summer resort and fairy-tale spot in winter. The lake also offers its frozen surface to winter fans to practice skating or curling right upon it. If not addicted to snow activities, you could also practice some tennis or swimming, or go to a fitness center and sauna. Zell am See is a resort of limitless opportunities as to having a lot of fun and spent an unforgettable holiday.

Summer activities
One of the most scenic resorts with gorgeous lakes and mountains in Austria, Zell am See welcomes warmly for your summer holiday. The natural sites of the Hohe Tauern National Park and the splendid Grossglockner alpine region will enchant adherents of mountaineering. A superb starting point for hiking tours, the Zell surroundings offer well-maintained trails for all abilities. Novices in walking can try the picturesque “Lake Promenade” tour and enjoy the marvellous panorama around the lake shores or take the gondola to Schmittenhöhe and descend to the valley. Summer routes are offered also for experienced hikers, who can explore the Hohe Tauern area with a guide, or take a tour to the famous Kaprun Glacier. Holiday can be a gorgeous time with the multiple other activities, such as biking, horseback riding, golfing, water sports (sailing, windsurfing, waterskiing) or tennis. For enjoyable summer evenings, open-air events are held, as well as concerts with Austrian music.

Additional information
Apres-ski is more than excellent. The medieval centre is a pedestrian zone, attractive with its numerous shops and charming pavement coffee shops. A selection of 40 restaurants invites you to culinary experiences of the local cuisine, or the classic French, Italian, Chinese and other. You can choose between cosy bistros, small mountain restaurants, luxury cafes and stylish bars. There is a touch of everything. Nightlife is quite entertaining too, with discos and bars, but still the night walks remain top romantic adventure.
