Westendorf introduction
Within the world-famous Ski Welt area and at 800 m above sea level, the village of Westendorf welcomes you for a classic Tyrolean experience. The village is cozy and compact, with friendly accommodation, pistes and entertainment within walking distance. It is set in the midst of adorable mountain scenery and warmly welcomes guests into the traditional atmosphere of an alpine holiday center.
Skiing in Westendorf does not offer limitless terrains, but is pretty attractive, especially for intermediate skiers. As to beginners, they will find wide nursery slopes within a short walk from their hotel in the center of the village. A prestigious ski school will take care for your quick improving in the most popular winter sport. The village, being located at relatively low altitude, suffers sometimes from low snow fall. But in good times with heavy snow falls a challenging off-piste will enchant advanced skiers. The village ensures direct access to 250 m of slopes in the Ski Welt, Austria’s largest skiing area. The Ski Welt, though disposing of vast terrains, is best for intermediates. Some greater challenges for experts are found at Brixen (at 10 minutes bus ride) and Hopfgarten. The resort area is serviced by a gondola conveniently located in the very center of the village.
Boarders will find a perfectly equipped snow park and some off-piste to enjoy. Cross country skiers are invited to admire the magic of mountain landscapes along the 19 km of marked trails. You can also practice some ice-skating and paragliding, or take the advantage of diving into the heart of Tyrolean mountains with the offered guided walks from the village.
When off the slopes, the local Sport Center is a must for the modern facilities and leisure activities it offers to visitors. Take care of your excellent shape in the gym or take a refreshing swim, and if you prefer to have fun with friends – play some bowling.
Nightlife in Westendorf is lively and amazingly entertaining. About 15 bars and nightclubs take care of you having amusing nights with lots of music and fun. More than 20 restaurants, some of which adorably perched on the slopes, invite you to try local, French or Italian cuisine. One to recommend is a visit to the nearby Kitzbuhel, a town of singular old-time charm, plenty of cultural and entertainment opportunities and great skiing.
