St. Leonhard im Pitztal
St. Leonhard is a small resort offering infinite opportunities for winter lovers and skiing fans. The village is one of the three ski stations in the Pitztal Valley. Pitztal is the southern most located valley from the town of Imst, the capital of Austrian Tyrol. The area is magical for many reasons – green and sunshine running down the stunning slopes in spring, and in winter the snow and ice beauty of the Glacier and the gentle white mountain… Here you can reach the highest point of the Tyrol Mountains in Austria – get on the Pitz Panorama Railway, the highest cable-car in Austria, and it will take you to the top of Hinterer Brunnenkogel at the amazing 3 440 meters above sea level! And from there you will be standing right in front of the Wildspitze, the highest point of the mountain raising up to 3 774 m. St. Leonard is one of the 4 villages of the Pitztal winter resort area. Together with its neighbors Arzl, Wenns and Jerzens, it welcomes winter tourism fans for an unforgettable experience.

Skiing in St. Leonard is one of the best. The village is perched on the Pitztal Glacier, on the border with the Rifflsee skiing area to assure best opportunities for all level skiers. Gentle slopes and nursery runs will be the perfect starting point for beginners, while high-altitude skiing and hair-raising downhill runs are available for advanced and experts on the Glacier. The Glacier skiing area at St. Leonard spreads between 1740 and 3440 m offering 20 km of prepared slopes. The longest run available is 8 km and a lot of off-piste is at the disposal of skiing freaks. The resort pistes are serviced by 7 lifts. Boarders will find a Snowboard freestyle park and variety of off-piste terrains. The Glacier, St. Leonard, is one of the 3 skiing areas included in the Pitztal Valley. The neighboring Rifflsee and Hochzeiger complete the scope of skiing dreamland. The three areas offer 80 km of skiable slopes with a Funpark Rifflsee and a halfpipe in Hochzeiger for boarders. Self-time race can be enjoyed in all three areas. The 4 resorts of the Pitztal are linked by one ski pass.

Winter in St. Leonard has many other adventures to offer you – 70 km of marked mountain trails for cross-country, ice-climbing, winter hiking, snow shoe hiking, day and night tobogganing, ice-skating, curling, and more. When off the piste, you can enjoy the relaxing swimming pool or some tennis.

The traditional alpine spirit has remained almost intact in the small and charming St. Leonard. Cosy hamlets nestling on the slopes and the rustic atmosphere of the farms, you will enjoy the real spirit of high Tyrol here. Apres-ski is calmer in St. Leonard than in the neighbor Pitztal villages, but still offering good selection of small bistros and restaurants to enjoy and relax. For wilder nightlife Jerzens is a great choice.
