Nestling in the charming Ötztal Valley in Southern Tyrol, at the amazing altitude of between 1800 and 3080 m, you will find the resort complex of the villages Obergurgl, Hochgurgl and Sцlden welcoming you for a delightful experience of snow-white fairy-tale. Obergurgl is the most popular of the three for its historical significance and museums , but also for being one of the loveliest and highest spots in Austria. Unlike its neighbors, offering more luxurious accommodation and typical resort atmosphere, Obergurgl is set in a traditional alpine style of Austrian charm and mountain hospitality. At this altitude snow season lasts longer than expected – till the end of May, with best skiing conditions guaranteed. Still, snow canons are prepared to cover the slopes with powder snow on the lower runs when spring comes. The area ensures skiable slopes for all ability skiers – 35 km easy runs, 55 km red pistes for intermediates and 20 km challenging terrain for advanced and experts. And, of course, for free-stylers the off-piste at Hohe Mut will be a great adventure. The longest run is 8 km. The skiing area is serviced by 23 lifts and a special experience is the recommended panoramic Top Express, revealing breath-taking views over the high Alps. Snowboarders will fund a well-equipped snow park and varied off-piste terrain. Cross-country skiing is especially delightful in the calm and high nature along the marked mountain trails. A myriad of entertainment is also available when off the piste. Try some curling, skating – day and night, sleigh-riding or tobogganing. And if you get tired of so much snow, in-door tennis, squash or bowling could keep you entertained. Relaxing opportunities are offered with sauna, Jacuzzi, solarium or massage.

Apres-ski in Obergurgl starts from early morning with accordion and guitar music plus typical Tyrolean dances. It continues in the local bars of cheering ambience and warming drinks. A fine selection of 30 restaurants will amaze you with the variety of cuisine offered – from Tyrolean to Italian, and high-quality servicing. Nightlife in the area is quite entertaining, though not so wild.
