Wildschonau region is situated in the Hochtal area of Austrian Tyrol. The lovely mountain region has four centers – Oberau – the largest, Auffach – with the majority of parallel ski lifts above it, Thierbach – with a couple of nice short drags, and Niederau – usually defined as the liveliest of four. The villages are located at about 3 kilometers from each other with Oberau in the center of the triangle. The Wildschonau area is in the midst of the Kitzbuheler Alps with the four charming Tyrolean villages immersed in the alpine beauty and majestic scenery. A great natural attraction for visitors is the Kitzbuheler Alpen pass offering around 700km of trails for cross-country skiers and unforgettable views for landscape lovers.

The village of Niederau has been a world-famous tourist attraction for many years. Since 1947 it offers to visitors a lot of fun and entertainment during the annually organized winter sports holidays. The village is situated at 830 m above sea level and offers perfect skiing conditions especially for inexperienced skiers and intermediates. The local skiing school is largely famous for its excellent instructors and the variety of the terrain, the combination of which gives beginners confidence and a really entertaining introduction to skiing. Niederau has 13 runs and 11 lifts to transfer tourists from one piste to another over the lovely Wildschonau valley. Snowboard fans will be pleased by the Swatch Race 'n' Boarder Arena in Niederau. In fact, the village does not offer a lot of challenge to freak boarders, but still they can fully profit of the park and halfpipe in Auffach just 3 kilometers away.

Known as one of the best family destinations, Niederau has taken care of the comfort and entertainment of its guests. Besides skiing you can go skating, play bowling, practice tobogganing or fondues paragliding. Romantic couples will especially enjoy a moonlit night ride in a horse drawn sleigh along the magical Wildschonau Valley.
