Mayrhofen is situated in the Ziller valley, Tyrol. The valleys offer excellent walking on specially prepared trails to the neighbouring villages of Finkenberg and Brandberg. With an experienced guide and snow-shoes you can head off the beaten track to enjoy marvelous ridges and summits.
Local Transport: Services up and down the valley are available by bus and train, some of the trains are pulled by steam locomotives. Bus services can take you into the other valleys, and cable cars give access to the higher ground.
By rail:
Rail connections are available, but the most popular way of getting to Mayrhofen is by bus or car. The train operates on a single small track and for that reason direct rail service is not available from the airport and passengers must switch to a train or bus at Jenbach (the nearest mainline, approximately 20km away from Mayrhofen).
