Igls introduction

General info
Lying on a sunny plateau, at the altitude of 900 metres just above the picturesque Inn Valley, Igls is an attractive all year round resort. Vicinity to Innsbruck and position at the Alpine foothills makes the village a popular destination for many travelers who come to combine a mountain activity with a city tour to the capital of Tirol. The resort has been a point of world's interest twice, as a venue of the Winter Olympic Games. The infrastructure and sport facilities that were built for this purpose are a great advantage for the holiday makers today. Although Igls has been known for long as the “sunny terrace” of Innsbruck, the climate is never likely to be hot, even on the warmest summer days.

Winter activities
Igls is surrounded by the gorgeous Patscherkofel with slopes adjusted both for beginners and professional skiers. Purchasing a ski pass will let you enjoy the pistes throughout the winter season and choose among various ski areas. Ski buses provide easy access to all the 8 ski areas with a total of 282 downhill runs and 200 kilometers of cross-country trails. What is more, there is a perfect opportunity for guided ski tours through the marvelous surroundings. A number of walking paths all across the mountains, an ice skating rink, horse-drawn sleighs rides and a toboggan run complete the list of winter activities in Igls. Winter is the season, when the Tirolean evenings bring charm and cosiness with their renowned melodies you can listen to in one of the taverns, while enjoying a cup of hot invigorating wine.

Summer activities
In the summertime the Kurpark and Patscherkofel Mountain become verdant and colourful, encouraging tourists to take a tour, guided or self-arranged, along the numerous hiking trails, and enjoy the picturesque views to the surrounding area. The Zirbenweg is one of the most popular and scenic trails, including a flat path at an altitude of 2,000 metres, where the panorama will stay in your memory for a long time afterwards. The Igls Plateau offers an excellent terrain for mountain biking and cycling, as well as for swimming in the beautiful Lake Lans. There are also two golf courses not far from Igls and floodlit tennis courts in Kurpark.

Additional info
The village has preserved its old farmhouses, which add to its unique charm and attractiveness. A wide range of pension houses and hotels have been carefully designed to represent its character and the typical Tirolean ambience. Après ski life and cultural events will make your evenings in Igls really special, so invite your friends or family and do not hesitate to come anytime you need a relaxation and fun!
