Pichl is a lovely holiday resort in the Schladming area, surrounded by four mountain peaks, promising scenic landscapes and excellent sport activities. The village is small and charming with its wooden houses and friendly climate, where the hospitality of the locals is widely known. At its altitude of 800 metres the clear alpine air will fill up your lungs, whereas the gorgeous panorama of the Dachstein-Tauern will encourage you to explore the area. The region has become more prominent recently, due to a number
of sport events held during the winter season – the most significant were the Nordic Ski World Championships, held in 1999.
Winter activities
This is the top skiing area with well-groomed pistes for all kind of skiing abilities and excellent transportation linkage provided by the network of modern and comfortable lifts. Once a cabin car takes you to the snow covered ridges, you will be able to admire the rocky summits, gently turning hills and deep valleys of the mighty mountains. Even the youngest ski followers will be satisfied, since there is a baby lift and special ski routes for children. Adherents of cross-country skiing can discover the great variety of picturesque trails that are connected also with the Ramsau region. Non-skiers have an opportunity of practising ice-skating, ice-hockey and ice-curling on the frozen lake. Another good idea is to take either a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride, or a relaxing stroll along the scenic winter hiking trails.
Summer activities
Pichl is charming also in the summertime, when the meadows bloom, the birds are chirping and the nature reveals its colourful beauty. Untouched forests and hidden tracks let you catch sight of some wild but harmless animals, even gracious deers. At this time the resort turns into an attractive tourist destination for hikers, who are eager to explore these areas using the well-groomed hiking trails. If you're in a good condition, you can choose the route to the Dachstein glacier. Another option is to follow a mountain bike trail, or to practise your skills on one of the the five golf courses in close vicinity of Pichlmayrgut. Climbing, canyoning and rafting are among other outdoor adventures, however you can always choose to lay down on the grass or by the lake, and just relax.

Staying in the municipality of Pichl-Manding, you can participate in the Show Mine Crafts Show available also in English. Exploring the area of Pichl by car is also recommended, as there is a summer festival held close to Salzburg, as well as other cultural events in the Dachstein-Tauern region. In the village you can enjoy a good meal in one of the restaurants or taverns featuring Styrian specialties often served with a glass of dry rose wine.
