Gastein Valley encompasses 5 skiing regions
united in 250 km of skiable slopes to suit all desires and abilities. Bad Gastein, Bad Hofgastein, Dorfgastein, Sportgastein and Grau Kogel offer vast winter sport opportunities. Beginners will be delighted by the gentle nursery slopes near Angertal and Bad Hofgastein, but could in short delay try and improve on the lower intermediates in the Schlossalm area. Intermediates will find it paradise – all level pistes, varied practicing area, this is the place to improve and enjoy. As to advanced skiers, they are also perfectly catered for – the hair-raising long run down from Jungeralm, the Kamikaze racing run or the vast off-piste terrain from Kreuzkogel to Heilstollen, there is a myriad of challenges for them.
Dorfgastein together with the nearby resorts form the largest boarding area in Austria, spreading on more than 100 miles of perfect pistes. A half-pipe and a snow park are also available for freestyle snowboarders.
Dorfgastein après-ski scene is set within the overall style of the village – charming, traditional, friendly. 14 restaurants of traditional cuisine and welcoming atmosphere will shelter you for nice evening experience, cosy bars and cafes offer you warm welcome. The shopping area is not splendid, but quite sufficient. As to nightlife, it is calmer than in other resorts, but still you will find the 2 discos quite attractive and entertaining.
