General info
Finkenberg is an attractive alpine village, set in the magnificent Zillertal Alps, where skiing is a passion and the panorama takes your breath away. Located only three kilometers away from Mayrhofen, the resort boats a scenic location in this peaceful and picturesque region, a part of the Tuxertal area just above Ziller River. The whole community is within a proximity to Hochfeiler – the highest mountain in the Zillertal Alps with its 3,510 metres. Rich history and long traditions along with skiing and tourism infrastructure add to the charm of this place filled with truly Tyrolean atmosphere. As a result, you will feel here comfortable, whereas the fresh alpine air will make any activity exhilarating. Even several prominent persons have highly appreciated the reinvigorating climate of Finkenberg, including Leonhard Stockthe, the Olympic champion and Peter Habeler, the first man to climb Mount Everest without an oxygen mask, both representing the residents.
Winter activities
The village is right in the heart of the Ski Zillertal arena, the largest skiing paradise in the whole valley, spanning from the neighbouring Mayrhofen to the Hintertux glacier with a year-round snow cover. By purchasing the full lift pass you will have an access to all the ski areas in the region, featuring 800 kilometres of ski pistes adjusted for all types of ski abilities. Transfer all over the ski runs, the total of which is 227 kilometres (59 pistes for beginners, 136 for intermediates and 32 for experts). Skiers will surely have an ultimate experience on the groomed terrain, but there is also a great adventure foreseen for the snowboarders – a funpark with various facilities: rails, jumps, half pipe and slalom to challenge the freestylers and snowboarders. You can even meet there ski and snowboard celebrities, such as Tom Eberharter, one of the Austria’s best freestyle skiers.
Summer activities
Situated in the heart of mountains the Zillertal Valley offers great conditions for hikers and mountain bikers. Hiking trails start at 630 metres and end at a really high altitude, some of them reaching the area of the Hintertux glacier, where a spectacular view over the surrounding scenery is available. Sunshine and fresh air of this marvelous Zillertal region will make you replenish your energy, whereas the numerous activities will ensure your good physical condition. Should you wish to hide from the heat on a hot summer day, stroll in the shady forests or go swimming in the Ziller River, where canoeing, rafting and fishing are also possible. Enjoy the beauty of the landscape from above by hang-gliding or paragliding, try archery or simply play a tennis match in the village – as you can see options are innumerable.
