Filzmoos introduction
Filzmoos is a charming village in Austria and a perfect family winter destination. Set within adorable mountain sceneries between the twin peaks of the Bischofsmütze Mountain, the village is a pretty spot of Austrian hospitality and unspoiled traditional atmosphere.
Due to the relatively low altitude of the resort and the mild climate, snow season lasts from December to March, but still skiing and winter sport conditions are highly recommendable. Filzmoos is the best place for beginners – a large variety of gentle slopes and nursery runs. The small skiing area of just 12 km still has some variety for intermediates to practice and improve. Advanced skiers will not be delighted by the village runs, but there is a much better opportunity for them – Filzmoos is part of the Skiverbund Amade pass offering direct access to about 100 times larger skiing area, of great variety and far more challenging terrain. 250 lifts service the area, though some of the villages are not directly linked to Filzmoos. The resort has, still, another unique advantage – the base station of its gondola lift is just next to the village center, close to your accommodation.
Filzmoos special charm is in both – unique beauty of the surrounding landscapes and traditional cosy style of the village, accommodation offered and après-ski. The restaurants, though few, the cafes and bistros will cheer you up in their warm and friendly atmosphere. Several bars and a disco will cater for your night entertainment. Another opportunity is to take a delightful night walk in the romantic mountain paths…, one you should not miss. With its welcoming atmosphere and relatively calm everyday life, Filzmoos is mainly preferred as a family destination or a quiet romantic escape.
