The town of Bodensdorf is very nicely located on the north-eastern coast of Ossiacher Lake, close to two other villages, Steindorf and Stattendorf. It is considered a family friendly area, as it offers animation programmes and attractions for children. Moreover, due to its proximity to the lake, it is the hub of water sports, indeed. The town can be reached by car, but also by the cable rail-way available from the top of Gerlizten in Annenheim. What's more, this is the region where sun shines for 2,010 hours per year on average, and sometimes even up to 2,100 hours. No other place in the whole Austria can boast of such record.

Summer activities
In summer Bodensdorf warmly welcomes all the hiking, paragliding and parachuting amateurs. There is a paraglide school and even a paraglide taxi right there, and flying above the lakes and mountain tops is surely a marvellous experience. Another advantage of visiting Bodersdorf is an opportunity to take a hot relaxing bath at the Therme Warmbad. You could even say that its all about water in this area, as swimming and fishing in the lake are really popular, plus there are water skiing schools along with a sailing and windsurfing base. What's more, the water from the lake and surrounding springs is totally drinkable. From other attractions you can pick bowling centre, golf courses or a tennis court, but there are also several ranches offering horse riding possibilities.

Winter activities
Being a popular destination during winter, Bodensdorf offers great skiing conditions, as it is located in the Gerlitzen Alpe skiing area (1,000 m – 1,911 m above sea level). This sunny holiday region has about 26 kilometres of vast, well-prepared terrain operated by 14 lifts. In the 2006/ 2007 season new ski trails were added and some slopes extended. Moreover, other activities such as cross-country skiing, ice skating and winter hiking are also possible. You can even have some fun at the Toboggan Run Natural Track, especially if you are on holidays with your children. There is a free sled rental, but you are sledding at your own risk.

If you are more interested in the history, seeing the Finkenstein Castle ruins is worth recommendation. Moreover, there are three art galleries in the area of Steindorf and Bodensdorf. Nature lovers, should not omit the Nature Observatory. Another temptation would be visiting one of the three wellness and beauty centres for a massage, sauna or water therapy. And in the evening, you could go to the discotheque, to the cinema, or simply have a cup of coffee in one of the cosy cafés. You will also surely enjoy a meal in a restaurant, offering either local, or Italian cuisine.
