The town of Galtur is just 10 km away from Ischgl. A notable attraction is the 345-m long, 19-m high wall. Its function is to protect the village from avalanches. This is why it is made of concrete and reinforced with 700 tons of steel. The Alpinarium forms part of the wall on the town side. It has an indoor climbing wall, display areas and facilities, a cafe-bar, sun terrace, resource center, and library.
