Otztal Attractions

Otztaler Glacier Road
The 15-km long road connects Soelden resort with the glacier ski areas in Rettenbach and Tiefenbach, located at altitudes of over 2 800 m. This is one of the highest roads in the Eastern Alps, rising from 1377 m to 2800 m. Every curve of the road, which winds through the panoramic Otztal valley, offers a new and splendid view. The tunnel of the glacier is the highest road tunnel in the Alps. The road and the tunnel were built with the objective to accommodate lanes in both directions. The incline is no problem for buses or cars, being 11% on average. If you are traveling in the winter it is recommendable you use snow chains.

Swarovski Crystal Worlds
( 87 km away from Langenfeld, 115 km away from Obertauern, 101 km away from Solden )
A notable attraction in the surroundings of Otztal is the Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens, an alpine town 102 km away. Almost 2 million people have visited the Swarovski home in Wattens since the fall of 1995 and delighted in the mesmerizing crystal world that spread before their eyes. This unique, memorable place was created by Andre Heller. A remarkable display is the "Wall of Fame", exhibiting all collectors' items produced since 1976. In the Interactive Mediatower you can see the latest SCS movie, browse the video archive, learn about past SCS events, and more. The library features a collection of all Swarovski magazines and guest books ever issued.
The collection includes works by prominent artists like Salvador Dali and Andy Warhol.

The Alpinarium, Galtur
( 88 km away from Langenfeld, 115 km away from Obertauern, 102 km away from Solden )
The Alpinarium is a meeting spot for old and young, locals and tourists...just everybody in general who is interested. There is something for everyone here. Galtur is located 101 km from Soelden. A notable attraction is the 345-m long, 19-m high wall. Its function is to protect the village from avalanches. This is why it is made of concrete and reinforced with 700 tons of steel. The Alpinarium forms part of the wall on the town side. It has an indoor climbing wall, display areas and facilities, a cafe-bar, sun terrace, resource center, and library. The Alpinarium may have begun as a wall, but later renowned architect Fritz Falch developed it more broadly with respect to content and space.
