Jochberg mine
( 9 km away from Kitzbuhel, 16 km away from Kirchberg )
A visit to the Jochberg copper mine will allow you to learn what copper mining was like over three millenniums ago. Visitors travel deep down into the mine on an electric train, with helmets. You will see how the water was drained, how the mine was ventilated, and generally how the miners worked, and thus understand why miners lived for only 30 years on average. There will be demonstrations of the tools that miners used as well. The mine is located 6 miles south of Kitzbuehel at Pass Thurn State Road.
