Eggenberg Palace

You will find Eggenberg Palace 3 km west of Graz city center. Dating back to the 17th century, this palace has an accentuated facade over the main gate and a tower at each of its four corners. The castle park is used as a game reserve today. There is a large court with vaulted arcades and two smaller courts flanked by four wings of the Baroque structure. The palace church separates the two smaller courts. Guided tours of the Baroque state apartments on the second floor are available. Another highlight is the historic exhibit on the ground floor of the south wing, comprised of Styrian coin collections and items dating from antiquity.
Fortified Cave Settlement

There is a Roman settlement from the 3rd and 4th century AD at the top of a hill above the Knallwand, which was discovered in 1997 in the course of excavations. The point of departure is Gasthof Burgstaller car park. It is a ten-minute walk to the top of the hill. There are information boards along the circular trail, presenting the discoveries and results of the research.
