Ski & Local Heritage Museum

The resort of St. Anton has an interesting history, and the local heritage museum at Rudi-Matt-Weg 10 chronicles it in an informative way. There are some good photos to look at. Situated above the Kandahar House (restaurant and historical monument in itself), it consists of a series of small rooms presenting local history. One wall is devoted to the Brotherhood of St. Christoph, a charity organization first founded in the 1300s. Today it is a multinational organization with 14 000 members. The square nave, the vestry, the gallery, one side chapel, and the second tower of the Parish Church date from 1932. The church itself was consecrated in 1698. The restoration in 1932 was carried out in compliance with plans of Clemens Holzmeister. Hans Andre embellished the interior with ornaments in 1952. A second gallery was added in 1964. Attractions in Innsbruck include the famous Golden Roof, built by Emperor Maximilian I, the Dom zu St. Jakob, the Bergiselchanze, the tomb of Emperor Maximilian I, and the historical Wilten district.
