Its steam locomotives are among the oldest ones still operating in the world, and among the few used for commercial purposes. The locomotives transport passengers between Jenbach and Seespitz, a stretch of 6.78 km. Then they continue up to Lake Achen, located 930 m above sea level. The railway is a great experience for old and young alike, but especially for rail enthusiasts and generally all those who want to understand what traveling was like in the past.

Of course, the most notable attraction in Achensee region is Lake Achen itself. It is widely considered one of the most beautiful lakes in Tirol, Austria. It is certainly the biggest and the deepest. It lies like a shimmering blue eye in the valley between the Rofan and Karwendel mountain ranges. It is across from the Karwendel and the Seefeld highlands.
