Austria is a skiing paradise. Throughout the Austrian Alps you’ll find thousands of kilometres of perfectly prepared ski routes offering superb skiing conditions for every skier, whether you’re looking for a nice easy run or a really difficult route that will let you rush down the hill leaving mists of fresh dust behind you. Austria has this down to an art - you’ll find plenty of highly qualified instructors and mountain guides to help you find what you’re looking for.
A popular choice of Austrian ski resort is Saalbach which is connected with Hinterglemm and Leogang and which is very modern and well-equipped, offering a huge range of skiing along with Hinterglemm’s night skiing and Leogang’s excellent snowpark. Nearby you’ll find Kaprun in the Zell Am See district, which offers not only good skiing but plenty of other activities throughout the year including the second largest spa complex in Austria, Tauern Spa World. If you prefer the party scene, St Anton am Arlberg is for you, with its vast array of apres ski and its lively atmosphere. If you’d like a little relaxing with your skiing, give Bad Gastein, a traditional Alpine spa town, a shot - the picturesque buildings and river make it a lovely place to stay. And for Alpine summer skiing, you can’t beat Mayrhofen with its nearby Hintertux glacier with year-round skiing, its snowpark and its annual hosting of the Snowbombing music festival.
Austrian skiing is well organised enough to back up the natural snow dumps with snow machines, and extensive enough to provide other snow-related activities such as snow-biking. There’s tons on offer - just choose which resort is for you!
